UC San Diego Annual Financial Report, 06–07

Letter from the Vice Chancellor-Business Affairs

I am happy to present the UC San Diego Annual Financial Report 2006–2007, which traces the major highlights and accomplishments of the past year. This year’s report emphasizes the impact of UC San Diego’s innovative research, teaching, and service missions on the local and regional communities. This report also describes our role as an early adopter and living laboratory for solving global sustainability problems.

State support accounts for only 13 percent of our total budget. To keep pace with the growth in research activity and to accommodate both current and future enrollment, UC San Diego continues to diversify its revenues. The rise in revenue from gifts and pledges made directly to UCSD reflects the success of the campus’ capital campaign, which achieved its $1 billion fundraising goal in 2007.

I hope you enjoy this year’s report.

Sincerely,

Steven W. Relyea
